Nitrogen Tyre Inflation
The equipment we use generates nitrogen that has been taken from the air and purified. The existing air from the tyres is expelled before all 4 tyres are then nitrogen inflated to the correct PSI. This only takes a matter of minutes.
Filling your tyres with nitrogen instead of air means that your tyre pressures will remain at the appropriate pressure for longer because the rate at which nitrogen escapes the tyre walls is slower than oxygen.
Why fill your tyres with nitrogen?
You should be checking your tyre pressures regularly. Incorrect tyre pressures can cause unnecessary wear, meaning your tyres could wear unevenly and may lead to premature failure or even replacement.
Nitrogen inflation keeps your tyres at their correct pressure for longer. There are a number of benefits to this, including Improved tyre life, Consistent fuel consumption, Improved protection against water-based damage such as rust on the rim, and Keeping CO2 emissions as low as possible.
Once you have nitrogen in your tyres, you should keep the pressure topped up using nitrogen to a minimum of 95% to feel its long-term benefits. If you need to top up using compressed air, this is fine but it will dilute the nitrogen content in the tyres.
How often should I replace my car tyres?
It is recommended to replace your car tyres every 6 years, regardless of the tread depth. However, regular checks are crucial for ensuring your safety on the road. Keep an eye on the tread depth, and if it reaches 3mm, consider replacing them for optimal performance. Additionally, if you notice any visible damage, such as bulges, cuts, or uneven wear, it’s advisable to consult with our experts at Wight Tyres for a thorough inspection. Regular maintenance and timely replacements contribute to a smoother driving experience and improved road safety.
What are the signs of tyre wear?
Identifying signs of tyre wear is crucial for maintaining road safety. Check for uneven tread wear as it may indicate alignment issues. Tread depth is vital; if it’s below 3mm, it’s time to consider replacement. Keep an eye out for bulges, cuts, or cracks on the tyre surface, as these can compromise its integrity. Vibrations, especially at high speeds, may suggest imbalances or other issues. Regularly inspect your tyres for these signs, and if you notice anything concerning, don’t hesitate to contact Wight Tyres for professional assistance. Remember, proactive monitoring and addressing issues promptly extend the lifespan of your tyres and enhance overall driving performance.
