This means a puncture across the central 3/4 of the tyre can be repaired. The repair process once identified takes roughly 15 minutes and remember we always install a new valve and re-balance your wheels. Should your tyre be unsuitable for repair then don’t panic, we carry a range of tyres to get you on your way!

How do Wight Tyres repair a tyre puncture or flat tyre?

Before every puncture repair, we check for damage including deformed bead wires, rubber or tread separations, deterioration such as cracking, marking of the interior rubber and any checks for all other signs of excessive wear to ensure that a safe puncture repair can be carried out.

When can a car tyre puncture be repaired?

At Wight Tyres, we will repair a tyre that has been punctured or damaged whenever is safe to do so. If a tyre is deemed to be unsafe for repair, then we will recommend that it is replaced. If there are safety concerns then this will be explained to you at the time of the tyre inspection.

When can’t a car tyre puncture be repaired?

Can you repair run-flat tyres?

Wight Tyres strives to repair run-flat tyres where we can without comprising safety. Unfortunately, not all run-flat tyres can be repaired as damage to the reinforced sidewalls can be concealed and as such, a decision about repairing or replacing run-flat tyres will be made by our qualified and experienced technicians.

What should I do if I get a flat or punctured tyre?

There is never a right time to get a flat tyre, but try and make sure that your car is in a safe place. If your car has a spare tyre or a puncture repair kit and you feel that you can repair or replace the wheel yourself, then give it a go before bringing your car to the Wight Tyres workshop to have the tyre checked for damage.

Most puncture repair kits are designed as a temporary fix and that should hold at least until you can bring your car to Wight Tyres to have it inspected. It certainly won’t last as long as a professionally repaired tyre. Please bear in mind that many spare tyres are only designed to be used for a certain mileage and low speeds, so once the spare is fitted to your car, it is advised to bring your car straight to us so that your damaged tyre can be assessed.

Can all tyre punctures be repaired?

In most cases, tyre punctures can be repaired, provided they meet certain criteria. Generally, punctures located in the tread area and smaller than 6mm in diameter can be effectively repaired. However, if the puncture is on the sidewall or shoulder of the tyre, or if it exceeds a certain size, a repair may not be possible, and tyre replacement may be recommended. It’s essential to consult with our expert technicians at Wight Tyres to assess the specific nature of the puncture and determine the most suitable course of action. Regular tyre maintenance, including prompt puncture repairs, helps extend the life of your tyres and ensures a safe driving experience.
